The Penas Blancas community consists of about 200 small land holders near Pitalito in the Huila region. It's name meaning "white peaks" reffering to the local moutain range. 

The Penas Blancas community is known for their conservation and farming practices as they are surrounded by a large nature reserve that is a big part of the locals identity.
